JOB TITLE: Accounting Clerk

POSITION SUMMARY:
The City of Dellwood is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Clerk to support its financial operations. The successful candidate will perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, and financial tasks to ensure the accuracy of the city's financial records. This role requires proficiency in QuickBooks Online and other bookkeeping software, with a strong focus on bank reconciliations, journal entries, and payroll processing. Candidates with prior government or municipal accounting experience are highly preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform daily bookkeeping functions, including recording financial transactions, maintaining general ledger accounts, and ensuring financial accuracy.
• Manage bank reconciliations and identify any discrepancies.
• Prepare and enter journal entries as needed.
• Assist in payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate submission of payroll.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and reports as requested.
• Assist in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Participate in the preparation of budgets and year-end financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
• Provide support to the City Administrator and other staff with various administrative tasks as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and other accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of bank reconciliations, journal entries, and payroll processing.
• Government or municipal accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of discretion in handling confidential information.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent work experience may be considered.

The purpose of the City Administrator is to supervise, coordinate and direct the City's day-to-day operations. This will be accomplished by directing the activities of the various City departments and administrative staff. Working with the department heads, the City Administrator will develop and implement policies/procedures with the approval of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. Under the supervision of the Director of Public Works, the Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing the municipal code of ordinances of the City of Normandy in order to promote the safety, health, comfort and welfare of the people of Normandy.
