The Municipal League of Metro St. Louis is hosting our golf tournament on Thursday, October 1st to support The 10-78 Project, a local nonprofit organization that provides counseling & resources to police officers who have been involved in an officer involved shooting.
You can REGISTER yourself or a team of four! All mayors, aldermen, department heads, city staff, and affiliate members are encouraged to attend!
The event is co-hosted by the St. Louis Area Police Chiefs Association (SLAPCA) and the St. Louis Area City Management Association (SLACMA).

| You’re invited to join us for The League’s September Membership Meeting on Thursday, September 24th at the Ballwin Golf Course & Event Center!
There will be a networking reception at 6:30pm, followed by a brief business meeting and presentation on cybersecurity for municipalities by Lashly & Baer attorneys Shane Chapman & Haley Dierks.
Attendance is free and no registration is required. All elected officials, department heads, city staff, and affiliate members are encouraged to attend!

| The St. Louis County Council is hosting a September 11th Memorial Service at Memorial Park. All city officials and the public are invited to attend. Mayors are encouraged to RSVP for arranged seating. |

| | League President Joins East-West Gateway Board of Directors |
|
| | Municipal League of Metro St. Louis President & City of Rock Hill Mayor Edward Mahan was recently welcomed to the East West Gateway Board of Directors. The East-West Gateway Council of Governments was incorporated in 1965 to coordinate federal transportation funding for projects across the region and now also leads regional initiatives on violent crime (Save Lives Now), homelessness (Bridge to Home), and emergency response (STARRS).
Mayor Mahan is one of 24 voting members on the board, and joins other representatives such as St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer, St. Louis County Executive Sam Page, St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann, and Jefferson County Executive Dennis Gannon. |

EWG’s 61st Annual Meeting Luncheon & OLGA Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday, November 13, 2026. Join hundreds of local, county, state, and federal government leaders in celebrating leadership, collaboration, and regional action.

| UMSL Planning and Zoning Program |

| | Registration is now open for the Fundamentals of Planning and Zoning Chancellor's Certificate program presented by UMSL, East-West Gateway, and the American Planning Association - St. Louis Chapter.
This program is designed for mayors/council members, municipal zoning commissioners, and municipal staff.

The course is taught by a team of senior practitioners who have extensive knowledge and experience in local government planning in Missouri, Illinois, and across the nation.
Course modules cover planning practices, processes, and topics that are crucial for local government success. The Certificate consists of seven modules that include lecture and discussion. Participants will earn a noncredit UMSL Chancellor's Certificate in Fundamentals of Planning and Zoning. Two scholarships are also available for the program. |

| ATF-led Violent Crime Enforcement Surge Begins in St. Louis |
|
| |
A coordinated, DOJ-sponsored law enforcement surge focused on violent crime began the week of August 10th in St. Louis. ATF is leading the whole-of-government effort to address violent crime in close coordination with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri and in partnership with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Marshals Service, and other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Annual tuition allows all elected officials, staff members, and board/commission members within your municipality to attend all seminars throughout the year and access the archive of previously recorded webinars. |

| FEMA Senior Officials Workshop for All Hazards Preparedness |
|
| | East-West Gateway is promoting FEMA’s MGT-312 seminar on Emergency Preparedness, administered by Texas A&M Engineering Extension. This workshop provides an interactive forum designed to help senior leadership (mayors, aldermen, city managers, law enforcement. and emergency management directors) to understand their emergency management roles and responsibilities.
Participants will have the opportunity to work through a customized tabletop exercise focused on the strategic objectives faced by senior leaders. The final outcome of the class is the development of an action plan to improve the preparedness posture of the community/organization.

| Great Rivers Greenway Receives $10.5 million in Federal Funding |
|
| | The East-West Gateway Board of Directors voted to approve federal funding for three of GRG’s planned greenways during the 2029-2030 federal funding cycle. The Brickline, Hodiamont, and Centennial Greenways all received federal funding totaling $10,535,950 between the three. You can read more about this win for the region HERE. |

| | The Missouri Supreme Court is set to hear cases regarding initiative petitions, property tax reform, and tax credits for sporting events. Some of these cases will effect Constitutional Amendments that could appear on the November ballot.

| MetroLink Completes $62M in Security Upgrades |
|
| | Bi-State Development, the organization that operates MetroLink, has recently reported the completion of $62 million in security and fare collection upgrades across all MetroLink platforms. It took nearly 2 years to complete the buildout on all 38 platforms. The organization hopes these upgrades will improve public perception and encourage more use of the transit system.

| KMOV First Alert Interview on St. Louis Re-entry |
|
| | Attorney Joe Blanner joined the KMOV team to give an interview on the City of St. Louis re-entering into the County. Blanner has previously written about and studied the “Great Divorce” and was previously appointed by the governor to the Board of Freeholders.
